Putin Warns Growing Terror Risks Inside Russia
During a meeting focused on security preparations for upcoming nationwide elections, Putin claimed that Ukraine is using terrorist-style tactics in an effort to disrupt Russia’s military progress on the battlefield, as stated by reports.
He argued that extremist and radical networks, along with what he described as international terrorist structures, are continuing their activities. He also alleged that Ukrainian authorities and their supporters have shifted toward more overtly violent methods.
“The risks of terrorist threats are growing. The structures of international terrorism, radical and extremist groups continue their subversive work. Moreover, we know that the Kyiv regime and its patrons have switched to openly terrorist methods,” Putin said, accusing Ukraine of relying “on terror, both against military personnel and against civilians.”
He maintained that such approaches would not change the overall trajectory of events, though he stressed the importance of addressing and containing the risks.
Putin also pointed to an increase in drone attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, saying these incidents are becoming more frequent. As an example, he referred to strikes on energy facilities in Tuapse, warning that such actions could have serious environmental consequences, according to his remarks.
He further emphasized that these security issues are especially significant given the approaching election period across Russia.
